Smiling Friends Character Design Audition

On Twitter, I saw the creators of the adult cartoon, Zach Hadel, and Michael Cusack, made a post for character designer auditions, I knew I had to submit something! I’ve been a huge fan of Zach’s work specifically for about 3 years now, so it would be a dream come true to work with him on what’s one of my favorite shows currently. These are the designs I came up with, it was a lot of fun trying to mesh a little bit of my art style into the show’s.

The Sad Unfortunate Life of Boo-Hoo

The Sad Unfortunate Life of Boo-Hoo
The Sad Unfortunate Life of Boo-Hoo is a passion animated project I have been working on for the past 6 years.
It f
ollows the life, or in this case death, of Boo-Hoo, a young ghost child, and his quest to have his soul freed with the help of his close friends. His closest friends, Skelley, a tall dapper skeleton man who is Boo-Hoo’s adopted guardian, Manny, a young spunky teen girl with a heart of gold, and her best friend since childhood, Pim, an anxious teen boy who struggles with his sense of belonging, are just a few of the friends Boo-Hoo meets along his journey to set his soul free.

Mei Nude Model Sketch

Taken right from my sketchbook; this is a nude sketch drawing I did of Mei-Ling Zhou from the first person shooter, Overwatch, to practice some anatomy. I’m really happy how it turned out, I find drawing chub rolls on bodies so much fun!

Materials used:

  • mechanical pencil
  • blue highlighter

Vin, the abandoned toy robot

This cute little guy is part of a school animation project. Both his hand painted textures and model were completely done by myself.

His design was inspired by the Sack bots from the video game Little Big Planet 2. He was also heavily inspired by wooden drawing model figurines. His design started off fairly basic and looked clunky to animate in Maya.

I later changed his design up and gave him more of a springy look like the drawing models I based him off of.

Just look at those fingers ! ✩*

Terms Of Service !!
As the artist, I have every right to decline a prompt, I will not tolerate any harassments or hate towards myself or my work. I refuse to make art if the customer seeks to resell my work, make edits, or use them for crypto/ NFTs.

With payment I accept PayPal and Venmo, whatever the customer is most comfortable using. Depending on the price, I advise the customer to pay half before I start the commission, and half after the first check in. I do check ins after almost every stage of the piece, (1) Refined sketch, (2) Line art, (3) Flat color, (4) Final render, (5), any other final details (simple backgrounds, final edits, etc.).

Refunds:
If the piece isn’t completed in its given timeframe, the customer has every right to refund me in full amount.

Timeframe
Doodle: expect in 24 hours
Rough Sketch: expect in 24 hours
Sketch with color: expect in a week
Just line: expect in 2 weeks
Flat color: expect in 2-3 weeks
Full render: expect in a month
*If the customer wants a custom timeframe, that is also completely fine to me and worth discussing. Also take these timeframes with a grain of salt, they really depend on what’s going on in my personal life, and what other responsibilities I have going on at the time. These timeframes are given as a rough idea and the maximum amount of time because I tend to work quickly (5-10 hours at most) on a piece. The timeframe also heavily depends on complexity; a more stylistic character will take much less time than a realistic portrait.

Summer Time Heroes

Summer Time Heroes
Summer Time Heroes is a passion comic I have been working on for the past 4 years.
It follows Linus, an awkward teenage human, and his trouble making rabbit companion, Bunny-Do on their quest to find their way home after being trapped in a hidden world.

Character Designs

Linus Goodwell & Bunny-Do Hopkins

Linus:
Pronouns: he/him
Sexuality: Aromantic/ Asexual
Height: 5’4
An awkward teen boy, found in the woods as a baby, Linus has always wanted to keep to himself and desires to be alone. When it comes to hero missions especially, Linus at first hates working with a partner, until Bunny-Do helps him open up and show his true colors.
Fun Fact: he plays a home made guitar in his free time

Bunny-Do:
Pronouns: he/him
Sexuality: bisexual
Height: 3’3
A spunky young rabbit, Bunny-Do is always getting into trouble with his compulsive stealing and shenanigan’s. Underneath his cocky demeaner however, Bunny-Do has a heart of gold, and will protect his friends no matter what the cost.
Fun Fact: he thumps his foot when he is frustrated or in thought.
